Catherine Wheel




this is tricky at first, however once you get pattern set it is pretty easy. It is known as a wool eater stitch because it uses alot of wool.

Stitches used

ch =chain
dc = double crochet
sc = single crochet 
dctog = double crochet together   
 
Foundation Row  only
chain to required length in groups of 10 plus 6 extra 

starting 2nd stitch from hook  do 
2 single crochet in next 2 stitches  skip 3 
 7 double crochet skip 3 stitches
3 single crochetskip 3
7 double crochet skip 3
continue pattern to last 5 stitches, 
skip 3 end with 2 single  crochet 

Change colour

Row 1
 chain 3
 dc4tog (the chain is counted as 1 of the stitches),1 chain to secure 
**3 chain,  3 single crochet around top of circle 
 3 chain, dc8tog
 1 chain to secure  3 chain** 
continue to end finishing with a dc5tog ( instead of dc8tog)

Row 2
Chain 3 
3 double crochet into the loop plus chain equals half circle for beginning
3 single crochet (Match pattern in row  below) 
 7  double crochet into loop to make top of circle
continue pattern to end of row.finishing with 4 double crochet hlf circle

Row 3
 

 1 chain, 2 single crochet
 3 chain 7dctog (8 loops on hook) 1 chain to secure
 3 chain, 3 single crochet
 3 chain  7dctog, 1 chain to secure repeat to end
chain 3 ,2 single crochet

  

 

 Row 4
1 chain, 2 single crochet
7 double crochet into the loop
3 single crochet (match pattern with row underneath)
follow pattern ending  row with 2 single crochet
